Obituaries

W. ROBERT (BOB) MILLS, Winterset

Memorial services for W. Robert Mills, 75, a prominent businessman and civic volunteer in the community, were held Wed., Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Mr. Mills died November 10, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

A lifetime Winterset resident, he was born July 1, 1916 to Ralph W. and Adelaide (McCleary) Mills. He married Gayla Fletcher March 6, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo. He was the retired owner-operator of Mills Motor Chevrolet-Cadillac Dealership, having operated the dealership from 1953 to 1985. Mr. Mills was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, Winterset Library Board of Directors, Iowa Automobile Dealership Asso. Board, Winterset Development Commission, Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Survivors include his wife of Winterset; a son, Richard Mills of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Sherry Alley of West Des Moines and Nancy Paulsen of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Marjorie Mills of Clear Lake, Ethel Biener of Riverside, Ill. and Wilma Baldridge of Batavia; and six grandchildren.

The body has been cremated, and ashes are to be buried in the Winterset Cemetery.
