Ross Blair Coe was born in Jefferson county, Ohio, on May 5, 1850. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James T. McLaury, near Clearfield, on Saturday, July 13, 1929, aged 79 years, 2 months and 8 days.

He was united in marriage February 7, 1871, to Elizabeth Jane Williamson. To this union were born six children, Jessie, dying in infancy, and Harry, dying at the age of 19 years. The other four survive their father and are, Mrs. John Davis of Waukegan, Illinois, George Coe of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Roy Coe of Laguna Beach, California, and Mrs. James T. McLaury of Clearfield. There are 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Wm. McMasters, Mrs. Lizzie Deeters and Miss Zoe Coe, all of Steubenville, Ohio. Mrs. Coe died three years ago.

Mr. Coe and family came to Madison county, Iowa in the spring of 1876, from there to Clearfield in 1895. He was a member of the M. E. church since young manhood.

The funeral was held in the Clearfield M. E. church, on the afternoon of Monday, July 15th.
