Mrs. Lillian Hochstetler of Penn township, died Monday, Aug. 27 at a Winterset nursing home, at the age of 89 years. She was the widow of the late Charles H. Hochstetler, prominent Penn township farmer.
Mrs. Hochstetler was a native of New York state, where she was born May 18, 1873. She was the former Lillian L. May, daughter of George and Ann May. At an early age she moved with her family to Stuart, where she attended school.
She was married to Charles H. Hochstetler on Oct. 19, 1904. They were parents of four children. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was active in the work of the Penn Center church over a long period of years.
Surviving are the four children, Paul W. Hochstetler of Winterset, Eva, of Creston, Francis B. Hochstetler of Dexter, and Anna of Earlham; in addition to 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Penn Center church, with the Rev. John Latta, officiating. Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.

Thursday, September 6, 1962Lillian Louise May, daughter of George and Anna May, was born May 18, 1873 in the state of New York, and died August 27, 1962 at the Peterson Nursing Home in Winterset, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 9 days.
At an early age she came with her parents to Stuart, Iowa and attended the schools there.
She was united in marriage October 19, 1904 to Charles H. Hochstetler of Penn township. To this union was born four children: Paul W. of Winterset; Eva of Creston; Francis B. of Dexter; and Anna of Earlham, all of whom survive. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
For practically all her life she was an active member of the Penn Center church, and in her able years, she participated in its many community functions. She was a devoted wife, a beloved mother and a friend to all who knew her.
Services were held in the Penn Center church, directed by the Evans Funeral service and Rev. John Latta officiated. Music was played by Mrs. LaVere McCleary and two song sung by Mr. Frank Junkin. Interment was made in the Dexter cemetery.
