OBITUARY

DAVID ALLEN BETTS

David Allen Betts, the son of Joseph and Eliza Betts, was born at Casey, Iowa, July 1, 1860 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mayme Fries in Scotia, California, on June 13, 1941 of a heart ailment.

His entire lifetime was spent in Iowa with the exception of the past eight years which were spent with his daughter in California.

He was united in marriage on July 9, 1884 to Mary S. Reynolds, who preceded him to her heavenly home 38 years ago.

He was a lifelong member of the Friends church.

Four children are left to mourn his departure. They are: Mrs. Ross Fries, Scotia, California; Fred A. of Kirkland, Washington; Frank M. of Ankeny, Iowa; Robert F. of Sioux City, Iowa. Ten grandchildren also survive: Laurence D. Betts, Earlham, Iowa; Mrs. Willard Nagle, Ankeny, Frances Betts of Ankeny, Iowa; and Donald Rae and Mary Keith, Richard, Ethel, Ardyth, Mary Lou and Gerald Robert Betts all of Kirkland, Washington.

He is the last survivor of 18 children.

He was a stong believer and had great faith in his heavenly father.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mr. Betts, Lawrence Betts' grandfather whose body was returned here from California for burial in the Earlham cemetery.
