HARRY GASPARI, Fatally Stricken

Harry Gaspari, a Winterset restaurant operator for a quarter century, was stricken with a fatal heart attck the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 28 (1956), while sitting in the court house yard. His death occurred within a few minutes.

Mr. Gaspari was 69 years of age, and had been a Winterset resident for 36 years, with the exception of a year in California. He was a native of Ireland, where he was born in the city of Dublin, of Italian parentage. When he was a small child the family moved to Glasgow, Scotland, where his childhood was spent. When he was a young man the family returned to Italy, and shortly after that he came to America.

In this country he settled in Des Moines, where he lived until coming to Winterset in 1920. He purchased the North Side Cafe here, which he owned and operated until 1945.

He was married as a young man, and his first wife, Nettie, preceded him in death many years ago. They were parents of a daughter.

His second marriage, in 1931, was to Maria Favilli of Italy. They were parents of a son. The mother died in 1946.

He is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Jordan of Vineland, N.J., the son, Richard Gaspari of Winterset, and one brother of New Orleans.

Funeral plans were not definite as the Madisonian went to press but are set tentatively to be held this Friday, at 10 a.m., from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset. The pastor, the Rev. Fr. John Higgins, will conduct the services.

The rosary service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home.
