Word was received here Tuesday, of the death of George Herbert Wilson, a former resident of Winterset, on Sunday, April 14th, at a government military institution at Dallas, Texas. Mr. Wilson had been ill more than a year. The body was shipped back to La Jara, Colorado, where he had previously lived, and funeral services were held there.
Mr. Wilson was born at Martinsberg, Missouri, August 17, 1869. When a small boy, his family moved to Winterset, where he attended school and graduated from the high school. He studied law at the State University of Iowa, and was admitted to the bar. He was a member of the Methodist church here, and for a time was superintendent of the Sunday school. He moved to La Jara, Colorado, with his family, and for a number of years assisted his father, Leroy Wilson, in the Wilson store.
In 1917 Mr. Wilson went to Macon, Georgia, where he made his home for several years, later moving to Dallas. Mr. Wilson is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ella White of La Jara, Mrs. Gertrude Van Vechten of Denver, and Mrs. Jerry Garrett of La Jara and a brother, Walter, of Phoenix, Arizona.
