Mrs. S. T. Golightly

After a lingering illness of several months, Mrs. S. T. Golightly passed away at her home on the morning of September 1, 1937, at the age of 67 years, nine months and 22 days.

Minnie Louise Groth was the eldest daughter of Harter and Caroline Groth. She was born in Polk County, Iowa, October 19, 1869, where she spent her girlhood days.

She was married to Sanford T. Golightly on May 28, 1895 and moved to a farm in Madison county. In 1925 they moved to the present home in Earlham.

To this union were born seven children, three daughters and four sons, one daughter, Elma passed away two years before her mother. A sister, Mrs. A. T. Missildine passed away in 1933.

Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, daughters, Mrs. Earl Meyer of Van Meter and Mrs. Lawrence Stanley of Monroe, and sons, John, Lloyd and Albert of Earlham and Jerome of Van Meter and 11 grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. A. O. Anderson and one brother, Frank Groth both of Winterset, besides a host of relatives and friends.

She was a member and faithful worker of the Methodist church. She loved her home, was a kind neighbor and loyal and loving helpmate and mother. A true and noble friend has left our midst but memory of her true character will live on with us.

Funeral services at the Earlham Methodist Episcopal church Friday, 2:30, September 3, 1937 by the pastor, Rev. Hugh S. Mitchell. Interment in the Earlham cemetery.
