MRS. ALMA BENSON

Mrs. Alma Benson, daughter of Andrew and Clara Swanson, was born in Kellogg, Iowa, September 22, 1872 and passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, April 28, 1958 at the age of 86 years.

As a young girl, she was confirmed in the First Swedish Lutheran Church of Des Moines, a faith she retained throughout her life.

In March, 1888, she was united in marriage to John Benson, who preceded her in death April 8, 1930. With the exception of a few years in Kellogg and the last ten years with her daughter in Des Moines, Mrs. Benson lived her entire life in Earlham.

She was a loving mother and a kind friend, always interested in the lives of others. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carl Heggen of Des Moines, a sister, Mrs. Leva McNall, of Earlham, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 30th at the Leeper Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Ralph Erickson, paster of the First Covenant church of Des Moines. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who attended the Memorial services for Mrs. Alma Benson were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heggen of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Alm and Casper Swanson of Stanton; Mr. and Mrs. Heiry Herfindahl of Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Swanson of Creston.
