Lloyd Chris Groth, 78, died of a heart ailment April 8, 2000, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Lloyd Groth was born Oct. 18, 1921, to Frank and Louise (Frech) Groth of Winterset. He was a 1939 graduate of Winterset High School. He married Lois Marie Graves Eyerly on Feb. 10, 1951, in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Lloyd was a retired farmer. He also had been a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset where he had been a trustee and usher. He also had been a Union Township trustee, 4-H leader, and on the Boards of Production Credit Association, Farmers Co-op and ASCS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife of Winterset; a son, Marvin Groth (wife Debra) of Winterset; a daughter, Carolyn Stirler (husband Roger) of Altoona; a brother, Everett Groth of Winterset; a sister, Louise Bunyard of Phoeniz, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset First United Methodist Church or Middle River Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
