Wednesday, April 6, 1966ALBIA BREEDING of Winterset Dies
Mrs. Charles Breeding, a lifetime resident of Madison county and member of a pioneer family in this community, died Wednesday, March 30, 1966, at Memorial hospital. She had been an invalid for many years. She was 82 years of age at her death.
Mrs. Breeding was the widow of Charles Breeding, a Winterset merchant for many years, and a member of the county board of supervisors for several terms.
She was the former Albia C. Cox, daughter of Alfred and Amanda Farris Cox. Her father helped build some of Madison County's covered bridges. She was born here Dec. 15, 1883.
She married Charles Breeding in 1905, and assisted him in the operation of the Breeding Hardware store in Winterset for about 35 years. Mr. Breeding died in 1961.
She was affiliated with the First Methodist church of Winterset. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, in which she had received a 48 year membership certificate, the Qui Vive club and the American Legion auxiliary.
Mrs. Breeding leaves five children, Mrs. Myles Young, III, Charles Farris and James Breeding all of Winterset, Mrs. Gayle Wight of Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. H. I. Olsen of Ventura, Calif. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Vanna Farlow of Long Beach, Calif.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. E. K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
