RALPH EUGENE BELL

Ralph Eugene Bell, son of Abner and Mary Jane Bell, was born near Patterson, Madison county, Iowa, on July 4, 1872. He departed this life on October 23, 1945 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glenn Clague, near Earlham. His entire life was spent in Madison county.

On December 26, 1877, he was united in marriage to Jennie Stout of Patterson. To this union were born five children, Robert James, Marian Elizabeth, Mary Gladys who preceded him in death; Mrs. Glenn Clague of Earlham and Alma Bell of Washington, D. C., who survive him.

Mr. Bell united with the Methodist church in Patterson many years age and remained a member until his death.

Others who survive him are his seven grandchildren; Thomas E., Mary Belle and Ruth Clague of Earlham; Robert J., Harold, Doyle, and Donald Bell of Lebanon, Missouri; and one sister, Mrs. R. P. Huston of Polson, Montana, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Coordinator's note: His gravestone and many vital records show his name to be "Ralph J. Bell" which is in conflict with the middle name "Eugene". This discrepancy remains unresolved.
