Arleta M. Bruns, Eldridge

Arleta M. Bruns, 84, of Eldridge died Aug. 4, 2001, at Genesis West in Davenport from injuries sustained in a fall.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today at McDonald-Chase Cemetery with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating.

Arleta Bruns was born Sept. 23, 1916, in Winterset to Herman and Beulah (Light) Cox. She married Paul H. Bruns on April 21, 1939 in Winterset.

She spent most of her life in Madison County and had worked as a secretary for the Madison County Soil Conservation Service. In 1970, she moved to Tama and was a secretary for Bacon Construction. She moved to Eldridge in 1982. Arleta was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Long Grove, the Altar Society, and Lakeview Country Club. She also was a past member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset, Ladies Altar and Rosary Society, and the Federated Guild Club (Thursday Guild).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter and a brother.

She is survived by a son, Thomas P. Bruns (wife June) of New Paris, Ohio; a daughter, Marcia J. McKinney (husband James) of Eldridge; two sisters, Iva Frederick of Montezuma and Rebecca "Betty" Paton of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
