Death of Robert Kelsey

Robert Kelsey, who had been residing in Winterset, with his son, H. R. Kelsey, died last Saturday, March 30th, at the age of 86 years. About ten days ago, he fell and cut his hand, which later developed into lockjaw, this being the immediate cause of his death.

Mr. Kelsey was born near Oswego, New York, April 1, 1843. He came to Iowa in 1865 and resided in this state until 1884, when he moved to Kansas, where he lived until last June. At that time he came to Winterset, to make his home with his son.

In 1875, he was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Reynolds, who preceded him in death nearly nineteen years ago. To this union were born two sons, H. R. Kelsey of Winterset, and O. L. Kelsey of Elk Falls, Kansas. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. He also leaves four step-children: W. H. Campbell of Loveland, Colorado; W. E. Campbell of Russell, Kansas; T. S. Reynolds of Lakeport, California, and R. S. Reynolds of Monticello, California.

Mr. Kelsey engaged in farming nearly all of his life.

Funeral services were conducted at the Tidrick funeral home, Monday, April 1st, at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. The body was then taken by relatives to Elk Falls, Kansas, where it was laid to rest by the side of his wife.
