Page 1, Column 5Lawrence C. Stanley, son of Chester and Josephine Stanley, was born April 1, 1911 in Earlham, and passed away October 9, 1977 of a heart attack in Phoenix, Arizona.
Lawrence graduated from Earlham High School in 1928. He was employed at the Earlham Echo for a number of years. He was married to Erma Golightly on October 27, 1935. Lawrence owned and operated a weekly newspaper at Monroe for 12 years. In 1949 he moved with his family to Greeley, Colorado, where he was employed at the Greeley Tribune. In 1956 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked for the Arizona Republic and Gazette until his retirement in 1973. He was a 25-year member of the International Typographical Union.
Lawrence was preceded in death by both his parents.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Erma, two sons, Leland L. of Glendale, Arizona, Larry D. of Modesto, California, two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Lawrence was a loving husband and father, a person who could always find some good in any person, place or thing.
