RUTH M. HENRY CLARK, Winterset

Ruth M. Henry Clark, 84, died Dec. 22, 1998, of a heart ailment at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 28, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery, with a graveside service performed by V.F.W. Auxiliary 8142.

Ruth Clark was born Nov. 9, 1914, in Winterset to Ernest and Grace (Campbell) Travis. A 1932 graduate of Winterset High School and a lifetime resident of Madison County, she was retired from Union State Bank following 29 years of service. She also was the first woman to become a bank officer at Union State.

She married Edwin Ernest Henry in 1932 in Bethany, Mo. Mr. Henry died in 1944. She then married Robert Clark on April 8, 1978, in Winterset. Ruth was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Pythian Sisters, Birthday Club, and the First Christian Church in Winterset.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, two sisters and two stepgrandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Robert Clark of Winterset; one son, Russell Henry (wife Jane) of Winterset; one stepson, Richard Clark of Auburn, Wash; four stepdaughters, Donna Jarvis (husband Ralph) of Atlanta, Ga., Patricia Klink (husband Bob) of Federal Way, Wash., Roberta Oetker (husband Rick) of Denver, Colo., and Carla Young (husband Bruce) of Winterset; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Henry of Winterset; 6 grandchildren; 6 stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
