Mrs. Anna Henderson-Bell

Anna Louisa Henderson was born Nov. 22, 1850 in Guernsey county, Ohio and departed this life at her home near Earlham, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1918, at the age of 67 years, 2 months, 15 days. She was the daughter of John and Nancy Henderson. At an early age she, with her parents, moved to Illinois, where she lived until the age of 16 she, with her widowed mother, brothers and sisters came to Patterson, Iowa.

Of this family of twelve, only two brothers remain: T. -. Henderson of Michigan and Duncan Henderson of Colorado.

In the year of 1870, November 15th, at Winterset, she was united in marriage to J. N. Bell and to this union five children were born, all of whom are now living: Mrs. Simon Fox of Cheyenne, Wyom.; Mrs. Courtney Couch of Adel; Frank E. and Carl E. Bell of Winterset and Harry M. Bell of Des Moines; also seven grandchildren.

At the early age of 13, she united with the United Presbyterian church and has ever since lived an earnest and sincere Christian life. During her long lingering sickness, she was patient to the last-always thinking of the welfare of others before her own. It seemed that her deep seated malady baffled all medical skill, and surrounded by her devoted family, she passed to her reward on the above date.

In the death of Sister Bell, the husband has lost a painstaking and lovable wife; the children a kind and sympathetic mother, and the community a friend and neighbor, whose place will be hard to fill. No mother was ever more devoted to her family than she. How earnestly she always prepared for those homecomings when she could gather her children about her fireside where they lived again the days of their childhood and heard again their mother's kindly counsel, which they shall cherish forever.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church of Winterset Saturday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. W. J. Stewart.

Interment at Rock City cemetery.
