Death of Mrs. Emeline Stafford

The body of Mrs. Emeline Stafford, a former Winterset resident, was brought to Winterset for burial Monday, April 9th. She had died from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy, at Los Angeles, December 3. Rev. A. S. Hueser conducted short funeral services here at the Winterset cemetery, Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Stafford was 78 years of age. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samual Betts and had lived in this community until twenty years ago, when they moved to Colorado. Later she moved to California. A nephew, Fred Betts, accompanied the body to Winterset.

Mrs. William Stafford

The body of Mrs. Williams Stafford was brought to Winterset Tuesday for burial. She died in California.

Mrs. Stafford was born in Winterset, her paramount, Mr. and Mrs. Betts coming to Winterset before the Civil war. The family resided on the hill near the Bevington residence for many years. She was over seventy years old.
