Services for Earl Richard Allsup, 80, Winterset, who died of a heart attack Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Tuesday afternoon at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Gary Worsham officiating. Burial was in the Earlham Cemetery.

Mr. Allsup was born in Warren County and farmed in Madison and Warren counties most of his life.

Survivors include sons, James of Earlham, Robert of Melrose and Earl Jr., of Winerset; daughters, Helen Cooper and Fern Douglas, both of Earlham, and Margaret Jurgensen of Winterset; brothers, Glenn of Cleburne, Tex., Howard of Adel, Ernest of Stuart and Kenneth of Ottumwa; sisters, Bernice Smith of Colfax, Edna Algreen of Winterset and Viola Coons of Long Beach, Calif., 23 grandchildren and 32 geat-grandchildren.

Earl Richard Allsup was born April 3, 1904 in Warren County, Iowa and passed away at the Iowa Methodist Hospital on May 12, 1984 at the age of 80.

Earl had farmed in Warren and Madison counties all of his life until retiring in 1960.

He was united in marriage to Flossie Mae Curtis in June of 1923 in Warren County. To this union seven children were born: James, Helen, Fern, Earl Jr., Margaret and Robert. One son died in infancy.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie; one infant son; his parents; one brother and four sisters.

He is survived by his six children: James, Helen Cooper and Fern Douglas, all of Earlham, Earl Jr. and Margaret Jurgensen, of Winterset, Robert of Melrose; brothers, Glenn of Cleburne, Texas, Howard, of Adel, Earnest, of Stuart, and Kenneth of Ottumwa; sisters, Bernice Smith of Colfax, Edna Algreen, of Winterset and Viola Coons, of Long Beach, California; 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

His greatest love of life was his family.

Funeral services were conducted May 15, 1984 at Grace Baptist Church, Winterset, Iowa with Pastor Gary Worsham officiating. Ruth Shafer provided organ music. Pallbearers were Bill Jurgensen, Jr., Jimmy Allsup, Jerry Cooper, Darrell Jr. Douglas, Velery Allsup and Randal Johnson. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
