Blair Weidman of Winterset Dies

Blair H. Weidman, owner of the Western Auto store in Winterset for the last 20 years, died suddenly last Friday, April 15, 1966. He was stricken with a fatal heart attack at the home of his son, Richard Weidman, in Winterset. He was 53 years of age.

Mr. Weidman had been well known in the Winterset business community since coming here 20 years ago to open a Western Auto store. He was a former member of the Winterset Lions Club, and had served as justice of the peace for Webster ownship since 1966.

He was a native of Ellsworth, Kansas, where he was born Aug. 5, 1912, a son of Soloman and Alta Riblet Weidman. He graduated from high schol in Lawrence Kan., attended the University of Kansas for two years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset.

Mr. Weidman was married at Topeka, Kan, on April 15, 1934, to Doris Stockert, who survives him. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Larry Breeding of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Ron Chapman of Des Moines; the son, Richard B. Weidman of Winterset; five grandchildren; a brother Herbert Weidman of Kansas City, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. Rex Purcell of Miami Springs, Florida.

Rosary services were held Sunday evening from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset. The funeral Mass was held Monday from St. Joseph's Catholic church, conducted by the pastor, Msgr. John W. Higgins. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
