SARAH ELIZABETH COMPTON

Sarah Elizabeth, daughter of Samuel S. and Mary McKibben was born in Brown County, Ohio, March 2, 1850.

When she was a small child her parents moved to Dallas County, Iowa, where she lived until she was married to Sylvanus Marion Compton on September 26, 1869.

They established their home in Madison County, Iowa, where they continued to reside through the years.

The seven children Frank, Edmond, Nathan, Anna, Minnie, Silas and Mary constituted the family which with the parents celebrated the Golden Wedding in 1919.

The family circle remained unbroken until May 20, 1923 when the father passed away.

To Mother Compton her home, children and their families were her greatest interest, her thought always being of them. She was a sympathetic neighbor and friend. She was privileged to remain in her own home throughout her entire life.

After seven weeks of illness, quietly and peacefully on Sunday morning, April 25, 1937 Mother passed on.

She is survived by seven children, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a brother, S. S. McKibben and several nieces and nephews.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Mrs. Compton were: Mrs. O.F. Comfort, Mr. H. B. Comfort, Mrs. Vint. Middleton, Mrs Dee Young, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Kenworthy, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kassar, and Mr. Byron McKibben, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Mr. Elliot Compton, Chicago, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. A.B.
