March 1948ELLA BARNETT
Ella Ballard, daughter of Levi and Huldah Ballard, was born January 24, 1866 near Earlham, Iowa, was called to her eternal rest in the evening of March 19, 1948 at her home in Colfax, Iowa.
Her parents were among sturdy pioneers of Iowa. She was a birthright member of The Friends Church. She loved her church and was a loyal and faithful attendant as long as health permitted, giving cheerfully of her time and strength.
On March 28, 1888 she was married to Willis J. Barnett and had she lived until the 28th would have completed sixty years of life together. Into this home came two children to be loved and cherished-Mildred and Leslie-but God called them home-Leslie in 1907 and Mildred in 1925. Bereft both children, Will and Ella were heart broken, but bravely carried on by giving a helping hand to others on life's journey.
Ella's life was mostly lived in Dallas and Madison counties near Earlham. They lived a few years in Dexter, later moving to Colfax where her last days were spent. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, and of her own family, all preceded her in death, but one sister, Elizabeth of Storm Lake, Iowa. Several nieces and nephews, much loved by her will mourn her passing.
