Ellis C. Bane was born in Green County, Pennsylvania, June 17, 1855. He grew to manhood in his native state, was married October 28, 1885 to Lelia B. Hipsley of Cameron, West Virginia, and passed away February 16, 1938, aged 82 years and eight months.

In the spring of 1889 the family came to Polk County, Iowa and located on a farm near Altoona, Iowa where they resided many years. In the spring of 1902 the family came to Madison County on the farm in Madison Township where they have since made their home. Mr. Bane was baptised a United Presbyterian.

Besides his widow he leaves three children, Clyde E. Bane of Earlham; Jesse L. Bane of Adel, and Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Earlham. One brother Jesse L. Bane of Bondurant, Iowa, 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, also many other relatives and fiends.

Services were held in the Tidrick Funeral Home in Winterset February 19, in charge of Rev. W. G. Robertson. Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery.

E. C. Bane died at the Winterset hospital at 5:30 p.m. from complications which developed from a broken hip he received in a fall several weeks ago. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Bane lived southeast of Earlham near Skullyville. He was the father of Mrs. George Davis of Earlham, Clyde Bane of southeast of Earlham, and Jesse Bane of De Soto, who survive.
