B. S. Binns Dies at Age of 83 Years

Benjamin Shaw Binns, a resident of Madison County for more than 50 years, died last Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hugh Young of Winterset. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Binns was a native of England, and was born in Wakesfield, in Yorkshire on February 15, 1854. At the age of 4 years, he came with his parents to this country, the family settling in Mahaska county. They later moved to Madison County.

He was married on March 19, 1876, to Emaline Kentfield. They were the parents of four sons and three daughters. Mrs. Binns, and one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Crawford, preceded him in death; the former dying in 1923.

In 1927, he was married to Anna Cline, who died in 1934.

He is survived by four sons; James Binns of DeSoto Charles Binns of Earlham, Ray Binns of Macksburg, and John W. Binns of Greeley, Colo.; and two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Young and Mrs. Eloise Hart, both of Winterset.

For the past year he had made his home with his son, Ray, of Macksburg.

Funeral services were held from the Tidrick Funeral Home in Winterset last Friday, conducted by the Rev. M. D. Summerbell of the Macksburg Methodist Church. Burial was at the Wight Cemetery.
