Wednesday, April 19, 1972Wayne Crow of Winterset Dies
Wayne Crow of Winterset died last Wednesday, April 12, 1972, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was 75 years of age.
Mr.Crow was a life-time resident of Madison County. He was born in Webster township Feb. 10, 1897, and spent most of his active life there, engaged in farming. From 1949 until his retirement in 1962 he was head custodian at Madison Cunty Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
His parents were A. D. and Jessie Smith Crow of Webster township.
Mr. Crow was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of that organization, and of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was married in Webster township on March 3, 1920 to Opal Phillips, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Nelson E. Crow of Clarinda and James F. Crow of Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip Hildebrand of Des Moines; six grandchildren two brothers, Glen and Charles Crow of Macksburg; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Spera of Tucson, Ariz.
Funeral services were held Saturday from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. H. E. Borum, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
