D. M. Applegate, 75

D.M. Applegate, 75, died Saturday morning in Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held for him at the Bear Creek Friends Church Monday afternoon, July 28 at 2:00 p.m.

Rev. Lawrence Sams of Pleasant Plain was in charge of the service assisted by Rev. Earnest Balotto. Mrs. Walter Mapes and Mrs. Leo Conrad accompanied by Mrs. Willard Hadley furnished the music.

Casket bearers were, Frank Arehart, Frank Parker, Walter Cook, Harold Cook, Ed Jones and Carl York.

DAVID MORSE APPLEGATE

David Morse Applegate, son of Benton and Rosalie Morse Applegate was born July 14, 1883 in Madison County. He departed this life in the early morning of July 26, 1958. He had marked his 75th birthday July 14 of this month. He received over one-hundred birthday cards and remembrances from his many friends and relatives commemorating this event.

Morse lived all his life in Madison and Dallas Counties. He was a farmer all his life. He attended school in Madison County. He was a member of Bear Creek Friends Church.

He was married on Christmas Day 1907 to Cora Mae Hadley. They were the parents of three children. Lucile Mapes and Russell Applegate of Earlham. Dwayne Applegate of Dexter.

Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, four grandsons, one foster grandson, two granddaughters and one elder sister, Miss Alda Mary Applegate of Enid, Oklahoma. He also leaves several other relatives and a great number of friends.
