Edward Vyle Jensen, 75, of Winterset died of a heart attack Feb. 16, 2000, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 21, at Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset with Pastor Terry Kerr officiating. Burial was at Union Chapel Cemetery, South Township, St. Charles, with military graveside services preformed by V.F.W. Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset.
Edward Jensen was born March 9, 1924, in Shelby County, Iowa, to Peter and Edna (Miller) Jensen. He married Maxine Morse on July 14, 1949, in Omaha, Neb. A Navy veteran of World War II, he had resided in Winterset for the past 48 years, coming from the Lorimor and Harlan areas. He was an insurance agent for Mease Insurance in Winterset. Edward was a member of the Madison County Fair Board, Madison County Conservation Board, Madison County Airport Authority, Madison County Foundation for Environmental Education, Oak Grove Community Church and Oak Grove Community Church Board. He also was a Sunday school teacher and youth director and president of Men with Vision.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Oak Grove Community Church in rural Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, four brothers and one grandson.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Pam Kerr (husband Terry) of Winterset; a brother, Melvin Jensen of Winterset; a sister, Lettie Loper (husband Leroy) of Council Bluffs; three grandsons, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
