Doris Brock, Winterset

Doris I. Brock, 89, Winterset, died at her home on Aug 27, 1985. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug.30, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Rev.David Bauer officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Doris Irene Silliman was born Dec. 28, 1895 in Dubuque, Ia to M.L. and Mary Waechter Silliman. She was married to Raymond O. Brock April 24,1920 in Winterset.

Doris spent her entire life in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School. She attended Simpson College where she studied piano and voice. During her life she often shared her musical talents in a variety of community activities. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and worked with the Red Cross during World War II. She was a lifelong member of Winterset First United Presbyterian Church, and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 180.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond O.; a son, Raymond L. and wife Frances Brock of Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter, Rosemary Moore and husband George of Overland Park, Kansas, a sister, Marguerite Smith of Oakland, Calif; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
