Manferd H. Addy was born in Jefferson Township, Madison County, Iowa, March 18, 1900, being the second child and only son of Marion Edmond and Harriett Addy.
At the age of three years his parents moved to the home farm 4 1/2 miles east of Earlham on which Manferd has spent the remainder of his life. He attended high school in Earlham until the death of his father when he took up the duties of his father at the age of 18.
On November 8, 1924 he was united in marriage to Miss Patrice College of De Soto and to this union one child, Wilbur Edwin was born who survives him.
His wife, Patrice passed away November 1, 1926 and since that time he has spent the greater share of his time with his mother until his marriage to Miss Belle Groves of Earlham, Iowa, on the 25th of September 1935. He departed this life September 25th, 1936.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Belle, his mother Mrs. Harriett Addy and his son Wilbur. Also four sisters Mrs. Lois college of Winterset; Mrs. Mable Aldrich of Redfield; Mrs. Blanche Peterson and Mrs. Myrtle Marquardt of Earlham.

Takes His Own Life By Hanging In Barn at Farm Home 4 ½ Miles East of Earlham.
Manferd H. Addy, farmer in Madison township four and a half miles east of Earlham, took his life Friday afternoon in the barn at his home. He was found there hanged with a halter rope. Funeral services in charge of Rev. B. W. McEldowney of Fontanelle were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
