Death of Mrs. Arminta King

Mrs. Arminta King, one of the oldest ladies in this community, passed away at her home, in the west part of town, Wednesday, August 15th, at the age of 92 years. She came to Winterset in 1867 with her husband, James S. King. Mr. King operated a grocery store until his death in 1872. Three children were born to this family, Miss Lulu, who has remained at home to care for her mother; Mrs. Scott Funk of Alhambra, California, who has been here for some time, and Wallace King, who died several years ago. Mrs. King is survived by four grandchildren, two of whom reside here, Ray and Harry King.

The obituary of Mrs King is as follows:

Arminta Kincaid was born in Bourbon county, Kentucky, June 1, 1836, and passed away August 15, 1928, aged 92 years. She came to Springfield, Illinois, with her parents in 1840. She was married to James S. King in 1856. To this union were born three children. They moved to Winterset in 1867, where Mr. King was in business until his death in 1872. He left Mrs. King with the three small children, two daughters survive, Mrs. Scott Funk of Alhambra, California, who came to help care for her mother in her last illness, and Lulu, who has lived in the home and faithfully cared for her mother. She also leaves 4 grandchildren and 8 great granchildren. She was a member of the Baptist church for many years.

Rev. A. Hueser conducted the funeral service in the home Friday afternoon, August 18th, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
