Lawrence D. Welty, Hemet, Calif.

Memorial services for Lawrence Welty, 75, of Hemet Calif., who died June 12, 1986 at his residence of a heart ailment, will be held Friday, June 20, at the Virgin Mortuary in Hemet, Calif., in charge of Hemet Lodge No. 615.

Born Aug. 31, 1910 in Webster Township, Madison County, Iowa, he was the son of Nelson and Hulda Haupt Welty. He attended school at Macksburg and farmed until moving to Cedar County in 1936 to a farm near West Branch.

In 1954 he married Dorothy Devney of Iowa City. They went to Long Beach in 1959 where he was an automatic transmission specialist until his retire ment in 1975. Since that time they have made their home in Hemet, Calif. He was a member of the Hemet Methodist Church and Hemet Lodge No. 615.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a sister, Pauline Barnhart of West Branch; and a brother, Bob Welty of Winterset. He was preceded in death by a brother, Merl, and his parents.
