Orie Hart Died Here Saturday

Orie C. Hart of Webster Township, a prominent farmer for many years and a former public official of the county, died Saturday, April 12, l969, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Hart was a native of Madison County and had spent his life here engaged in farming. He served three terms on the Madison County Board of Supervisors from 1949 through 1957.

He was born in Webster township Dec.18,1886, a son of Myles H. and Martha Welty Hart. He was married Dec. 1, 1909 to Nina D. Drake. Her death occured in 1965. Mr.Hart was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church.

He leaves three sons, Floyd, George and Ivan Hart, all of Winterset, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Wilson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. D. Ward Young of Earlham. Burial was made in Winterset Cemetery.

Obituary

Orie Charles Hart, son of Miles Harvey and Martha Welty Hart, was born in Webster township of Madison County, Iowa, on December 18, 1886; and passed away April 12, 1969 at the Madison County Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 82 years, 3 months and 25 days of age.

Orie grew up and lived out his life in Webster township. In his early adulthood he taught school and he always worked in farming. On December 1, 1909 he was united in marriage to Nina Drake and to this union three children were born: Floyd, George and Ivan Hart, all of Winterset.

He was a longstanding and active member of the Webster United Methodist church, and as well as being faithful in worship he served on the Church Board and was treasurer of the church for many years.

He was also active in community life and served three terms as County Supervisor.

Orie was the last surviving member of the parental Miles Hart family and was also preceded in death by his wife, and by one great grandchild.

He is survived by his three sons: Floyd and wife Gen of rural Winterset; George and wife Opal of rural Winterset; Ivan and wife Maxine of Winterset; by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and by other relatives and friends.

Services were held Tuesday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Winterset. Rev. Ward Young officiated at the service. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
