Walter Stephen Lathrum, 85, of St. Charles, died May 26, 1994 at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset. Funeral services were May 30, 1994 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Ed Poston officiating. Burial was at the Union Chapel Cemetery in Madison County.
He was born August 13, 1908 in Madison County to David and Anna (Freeborn) Lathrum.
He married Muriel Morse in Indianola on Feb. 14, 1929. He was a farmer and a past school board member, a member of the Farm Bureau, and a member of the St. charles Parish Church.
He was preceded in death by one son; and one granddaughter.
Surviving relatives include his wife, of St Charles; four sons, Jonnie Lathrum and wife Pat of St. Charles, Wayne Lathrum and wife Joyce of Johnston, Donnie Lathrum and wife Genie of Olathe, Kan., and David Lathrum and wife Martha of St Charles; one daughter, Doris Downs and husband Larry of St. Charles; one brother, Sam Lathrum of Winterset; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Boonevbille, and Leah Woodford of Sergant Bluffs; one uncle, Glen Lathrum of St. Charles; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
