Mrs. L. J. Morse of Winterset, member of a well-known Madison county family, died Tuesday, July 23, at Memorial hospital here. She was 76 years of age, and had been in ill health the last 15 years.

Mrs. Morse was a native of Dallas county, where she was born November 17, 1886. She was the former Wilda McKibben, daugher of Gideon S and Jennie Mark McKibben. As a young woman she was married to Leon J. Morse. In 1918 they moved from Earlham to Barney, living there until 1958, then they moved to Winterset. Mr. Morse died Jan. 22, 1959.

She was a member of the United Brethren Hickery Grove church, north of Earlham and had attended the Patterson Methodist church.

She is survived by a son, William C. Morse of Macksburg; five daughters, Mrs. Muriel Lathrum of St Charles, Mrs. Irene Bankson of Unionville, Mo., and Mrs. Grace Osborn, Mrs. Ellis Osborn, and Mrs. Maxine Jensen all of Winterset. She also leaves 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three brothers, Everett McKibben of Adel, Harry McKibben of Earlham, and Dewey McKibben of Bridgeport, Nebr.; and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Ramsey of Waukee, Mrs. Dene Armstrong of Dexter, and Nita McKibben of Earlham.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by C. A. McMurray. Burial will be made in Union Chapel Cemetery.
