Willard G. Parkison, 93, died Nov. 30, 2005, at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.

Funeral Services were held Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Earlham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Thompson officiating. Burial was at Penn Center Cemetery in rural Earlham with military rites performed by Earlham American Legion Post 158.

Willard Parkison was born May 7, 1912, in Beaver Township, Guthrie County, to George and Willamia (Falk) Parkison and received his education in the Menlo School District. On March 11, 1947, he married Gladys Cox in Winterset. Willard and his family farmed in Madison County, south of Earlham and then near Penn Center, until his retirement in 1976, at which time he and his wife moved to Winterset and then in 1986, to Van Meter. While farming, Willard worked part time at the sale barns in Stuart, Adel and Winterset. He also was a food sample sales person at Dahl’s food store on Grand. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1942-46.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two brothers, Henry and Cecil; and a sister, Mildred Krekelberg.

He is survived by one daughter, Cher Brunk of Des Moines, and two grandchildren and four great-grand children.
