Melvin Johnson, who is employed in Montross' pharmacy, was called to Boone Saturday, March 31, by the critical illness and death of his young brother, Lee Johnson. The boy, who was fifteen years of age, and a junior in high school, accidentally shot himself with a revolver Saturday afternoon near his home at Stratford. He was taken to the Boone hospital, but died late that night. Funeral services were held for him Tuesday afternoon. He is survived by his parents, his brother, Melvin and two sisters, who are nurses in Des Moines. Mr. Johnson was accompanied to Boone by his wife and two sons, Melvin Junior and Owen. Lee Johnson had visited in Winterset several times and had a number of acquaintances here.
