Ephraim S. Mills, the son of Enos and Elizabeth Mills, died at his home in Winterset, Monday evening, March 5th, 1906, after an illness of about a year. He was born in Hamilton county, Indiana, April 28th, 1846. When a boy of seven, his parents came to Madison county, Iowa, in 1853, which has been his home ever since.

August 22nd, 1862, he enlisted in Company A, of the 39th Iowa Infantry, serving till the close of the civil war.

He was married to Martha Ann Cox, July 26, 1866, to whom were born thirteen children. His wife and two children having passed away before him. He leaves five sons, six daughters, four brothers, four sisters and many friends to mourn his loss.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church, conducted by the Pastor. The local G. A. R. assisted in the services and burial of their comrade.
