Death of Mrs. W. H. Williams

Earlham, March 21. Special – Mrs. W. H. Williams, a prominent citizen of Earlham, died Tuesday morning, March 20, after a short illness. She had gone to Des Moines last week for treatment, and was operated upon at the Methodist hospital for appendicitis and gall stones Saturday. Her heart did not seem able to stand the shock and she died Tuesday, march 20, at 9:30 o’clock. She was 48 years of age.

The Williams family came to Earlham nine years ago, and Mr. Williams has since been cashier of the Citizens State bank. Mrs. Williams has taken an active interest in the affairs of her community and had done a great deal of Eastern Star work.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Wilma Jean, who is thirteen years of age, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted at Earlham, Friday afternoon, march 23, at the Church of Christ at 2:00 o’clock, by Rev. A. N. Simpson.

Clara Schomberg, second daughter of Jacob and Catherine Schomberg, was born near Columbus Junction, Louisa County, Iowa, November 2, 1879, and passed peacefully away into the life eternal March 20, 1928, in the Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, her age being 48 years, four months and eighteen days.

She moved with her parents from the farm home to Muscatine, Iowa, in 1899. In 1908 she came to Des Moines where she made her home.

On October 7, 1913 she was united in marriage to W. H. Williams. To this union there was born one daughter, Wilma Jean, who was born October 1, 1914.

In 1918 she with her husband and daughter came to Earlham, Iowa, where she happily lived until the time of her death.

She united with the Central Church of Christ, Des Moines, in 1914, and later transferred her membership to the Church of Christ in Earlham.

She was also a member of the Earlham Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and daughter, an aged mother, one sister, Anna Klotz, and three brothers, John J. and Henry A. of Muscatine, and Jacob P. of Lakeland, Florida. Her father, brother and sister have preceded her in death. She also leaves to mourn her loss a large number of relatives and friends.
