Minnie DeVore, daughter of John and Harriet L. DeVore, was born in Newark, Ohio, in which place she spent her youth and received her early education.

She united with the First Baptist Church in Newark when about eighteen and retained her membership at that place until it was transferred to Des Moines, Iowa, where she came to reside with her sister, Mrs. Gary Richards, whose husband was constructing engineer at Ft. Des Moines. It was here that she met T. C. Maxwell to whom she was united in marriage on September 4, 1906. Since that time she had made her home in Earlham and vicinity, where she has endeared herself to all who have known her well, by her unselfish service and devotion to their comfort and interests. Perhaps the most outstanding characteristic of her life was the spirit of self-sacrificing justice.

While not a member of the Friends Church, she has been most interested in its various activities as well as those of the Sunday School, and a loyal friend to its interests.

She leaves besides her husband, one sister, Mrs. Jeanette Richards, a brother-in-law, Mr. Gary Richards, of San Francisco, Cal., two nieces, Helen Richards and Mrs. Paul ----- of Ft. Worth, Texas, and many friends and relatives.

Funeral services were conducted at the Friends Church at 10:30 Saturday morning by the pastor, Rev. Mendenhall, and interment was in Earlham Cemetery.
