MRS. ED GROUT OF WINTERSET PASSES --

Mrs. Ed Grout, a long-time resident of this community, died Wednesday morning at the Winterset hospital. She was 73 years of age. Mrs. Grout was a native of West Virginia, but came to this county at the age of 14 years.

She is survived by her husband and four children: Mrs. Katie Cram, C. H. Grout, Mrs. Lenna Waltz, and Mrs. Mary Eckstine all of Winterset.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was [sic] be made in the Winterset cemetery.

Service Held For Mrs. Edwin Grout

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Grout, 73 years of age, who died Wednesday in the Winterset hospital, were held Friday afternoon at 3:30 in the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Music was furnished by the Oak Grove male quartette. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Ida Belle Cooper, daughter of Joseph and Ethel Linda Cooper, was born May 1, 1866 in Sistersville, W. Va. When an infant she moved with her parents to Terra Haute, Indiana, and at the age of 14, the family came in a covered wagon to Madison county, Iowa, and the remainder of her life was spent in this county. She was united in marriage with Edwin Grout, also of Winterset, June 21, 1888 and to this union were born six children, one of whom died in infancy and Lester who died in 1916 at the age of seventeen. She united with the United Presbyterian church in January, 1913.

Those who survive are her husband; four children, Mrs. Catherine Cramm, Charles Grout, Mrs. Lenna Waltz and Mrs. Mary Eckstein all of Madison county; two brothers, Will Cooper of Des Moines and Frank Cooper of St. Charles, the only two remaining of a pioneer family of twelve children; eleven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
