J. Q. MACKEY OF PERU DIES HERE WEDNESDAY --

J. Q. Mackey, elderly resident of Peru, died at the Winterset hospital Wednesday morning. Mr. Mackey was a native of Walnut township, and lived most of his life in Peru. He is survived by one son, Earl Mackey, also of Peru. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the Methodist church in Peru. Burial will be made in the King cemetery.

MORTUARY

John Quincey Mackey, son of Robert and Elizabeth Mackey, was born in Fayette county, Ohio, Aug. 14th, 1871 and departed this life Jan. 4th, 1939, at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 10 days.

He was united in marriage to Viola May Stevens, July 3rd, 1893, who preceded him in death May 5, 1917. To this union one child was born, Wilbert Earl of Peru.

He joined the Methodist church in his early manhood.

Although never strong physically John Mackey was never found complaining of his ailments that have bothered him the past few years. He was always ready and willing to share the burdens of others who were in need.

His last words before departing this life were: “I am going home”.

He leaves to mourn his passing one son, Earl of Peru, one brother, Frank of Ken, Washington, one sister, Myrtle Gray of Malvern, and several other relatives and friends.

(Burial was made in the King cemetery)
