Judy Marie (Cleveland) Knipfel
Judy Marie Knipfel was born February 19, 1950 in Osceola, IA and passed on November 27, 2024 in West Des Moines, IA. She was the daughter of Grace Marie (Decker) Porter and step-father Johnny Giles Porter. Judy grew up around Peru, IA in Madison County, going to school in Peru until the school closed, then attended Scott Elementary School and Winterset schools until the family moved to Des Moines. Judy then attended Lincoln High School from which she graduated from in 1968. She worked for Dairyland Insurance and babysat many neighborhood kids during her high school days.
Judy married Raymond Knipfel September 27, 1968. Judy and Raymond settled near Carlisle, IA and Judy worked for Norwest Bank for many years. After retirement they moved to Auxvasse, MO to be closer to Raymond’s family and Judy worked as a police dispatcher there. When Raymond passed away Judy moved back to Iowa settling in Waukee and worked at Kohl’s department store then moved to Winterset.
Judy was a proud dog mom to Tina, Jack, Snoopy, and Bear whom she loved and dedicated her life to their care. She loved fishing and driving and looking at classic and luxury cars. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her work, crafting, and shopping. Judy was a loved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend.
Judy was preceded in death by step-father Johnny Giles Porter, brother, Johnny James Porter and husband Raymond Knipfel. She is survived by her mother Grace Marie Porter.
Services for Judy will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, IA on Wednesday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 am. with burial following services at the Peru Cemetery. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral from 10am until 11am.
In lieu of flowers her family suggests memorial to the Clarke County Animal Shelter. 125 E Ayers St. Osceola, IA 50213
