Winterset Burial For Mrs. Bird Miles
Graveside services will be held at the Winterset cemetery this Thursday at 3 p.m. for Mrs. Bird Miles, formerly a well-known resident of this community, whose death occurred last Saturday, March 28, at Racine, Wisc.
Mrs. Miles' death ended a year of illness. She was 76 years of age.
She was the former Loraine Koser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Koser. Her father was a prominent Winterset merchant for more than half a century. She was born Jan. 23, 1888, and her life was spent in Winterset until after her marriage to Bird Miles of this community. They made their home in Chicago for many years until his retirement, when they returned to Winterset. Following the death of her husband here, she left Winterset about five years ago, and since then had been living at Racine.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Miles, who was killed in the service of his country during World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles Perkins of Racine; two grandsons, David and King Perkins; and a sister, Mrs. Beulah Enright of Chicago.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset and Chapter AG PEO of Winterset.
The Rev. W. P. Fink will conduct the graveside services here. The family requests no flowers.
