Mrs. Blaine Miles, a well-known resident of the Winterset community all her life, died Saturday, June 1, at Memorial hospital. Her death followed a heart attack. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Miles was born in Winterset Oct. 25, 1893. She was the former Bess Evelyn Burd, daughter of Henry and Margaret (Armbrest) Burd. She was married Feb. 3, 1913 to Blaine Miles, who survives her.

She was a member of the First Christian church at Winterset, and of the Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband, she leaves five children, Dan Miles of Winterset, Mrs. Eileen Sylvia of San Diego, Victor Miles of San Diego, Philip Miles of Van Meter and Mrs. Marjorie Boresi of Des Moines. She also leaves ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the First Christian church in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
