October 30, 2024Lois Thompson, 87, of Winterset, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Lois was born in Madison County, Iowa on July 29, 1937, to Floyd and Genevieve “Gen” (Kuntz) Hart. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1955 and spent most of her life in Winterset. She was united in marriage to Art Thompson in 1968 in Wathena, Kansas.
Lois was a dispatcher for the sheriff and police stations for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winterset where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Teri) Thompson, Jay Fritz, Julie (David) Bunch, Janeen Fritz, and Darin Thompson; her brother, John (Louise) Hart; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Gen Hart; her husband, Art; son, AC Thompson; daughter, Karen Thompson; and great grandson, Tristan Close.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Family will be present to greet friends one hour prior, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.
