February 6, 2020Allen Henry Childers, 76, of Tama, IA, passed away February 2, at Belle Plaine Skill Care Initiatives Hospice. He was born on March 3, 1943, in Unionville MO, the second child of Norma Mae (Reyner) and George Henry Childers. His siblings: Georgia Mann of Unionville IA; Gary (Sharon) Childers of Durango IA, and Margaret Milner of Newtown MO, survive him.
Allen married Ruth Crawford on December 26th 1966. He had two children, Michelle Childers(49) of Aurora CO, and Skyler Childers (41) and one daughter in law Elissa (Davis) of Newhall IA.
Allen’s life was extended by the births of his grandchildren. Dennison Wayne was born on August 9, 2009 and Penelope Rose on June 29, 2012. Denny and Penny have always been entertaining when they stayed weekends with Grandpa Allen and Grandma Ruth.
Allen is also survived by three aunts; Mary Tchantz, Elizabeth Wroblewski and Janice (Jene) Schmitz and many, many cousins. Sister-in-law Karen Hendrickson, sister-in-law Carol (Keith) Curry and all the Curry nieces and nephews and Milner (Ralls) nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Norma Childers, in-laws Pete and Nita Crawford, brothers-in-law Denny Crawford and Peter Hendrickson and a niece, Tiffany Hendrickson.
A Celebration of life service will be held Sunday February 9th at Sheridan United Methodist Church, 948 320th Ave Grinnell (12 miles south of Tama. Visitation1-3, Ceremony at 3
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Newhall Lions Club, or the Denver Dumb Friends League Furry Scurry through pledges for Michelle Childers and Allen’s furry grandkids.
