Obituary Isaiah Oglesbee

Isaiah Oglesbee died at his home in Scott Township, Saturday evening after a long illness from Bright’s disease. His disease reached the critical stage last winter since which time his friends ceased to hope for permanent recovery. He was one of the wealthiest farmers of his township, a man of strictest integrity and uprightness in business dealings. He was born in Logan county, Ohio, Oct. 27, 1844, being 62 years, 9 months and 14 days of age at the time of his death. He came to Madison county in 1859. Enlisted at Winterset Aug. 9, 1862 with the 39th Iowa volunteer infantry and was with that company through all engagements including Sherman’s famous march to the sea.

He was married to Dulcina King, of this county, July 8, 1868. Seven children blessed this union and one son and five daughters survive their father. Warren Oglesbee resides in Scott township, three daughters reside at home, two are married, one living in Cass county and one in Dakota.

Funeral services were held from the late home on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. E. E. Bennett conducted the services and the masonic lodge of this place took charge of the services at the grave.
