Forty Years Ago (August 13, 1881)

T. S. McCaughan was startled on Thursday morning by the receipt of a telegram from his wife, who was visiting in Pennsylvania, that his second son, Charley, was very sick and for him to come at once. He immediately got ready, but before the train started, he received further word that the child was dead.
