Roy H. Garlock, 88, 212 E. 20th St., South Sioux City, died Friday in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Garlock was born Dec. 21, 1887, at Sloan. He married Ethel Brown Sept. 5, 1914, at South Sioux City.
Mr. Garlock was an insurance representative and salesman for the Equitable Life Assurance Society in Sioux City for 40 years. He moved to South Sioux City from Earlham, Iowa in 1926 and had been a teacher before going into the insurance business. Mrs. Garlock died Nov. 19, 1936, in Sioux City.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in South Sioux City, the Alpha Masonic Lodge 3136 AF & AM, the Sioux City Consistory, and Laura Chapter 301, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Soelberg of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Margaret McDonald of Sioux City, and Mrs. Adell Oberg of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two sons, the Rev. Brown Garlock of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Roy Garlock Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Hitt of South Sioux City and Mrs. Glen Welch of Duluth, Minn.; a brother, Charles of Norwalk, Iowa; and 21 grandchildren.
The body was taken to Jack Becker Funeral Home of South Sioux City.
