Helen E. Hickman, 102, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023, at Calvin Community, Des Moines, Iowa, where she had lived for the last seven years. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2023 at Iles Westover Chapel., 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, IA 50322. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.

Helen was born August 10, 1921 in Earlham, Iowa to Howard and Nella G. (McKray) Hickman. She grew up in Earlham and graduated from Southwest Community College in Creston.

Helen has lived in the Des Moines area (Windsor Heights) since 1940. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Globe Machinery for 29 years, retiring in 1990. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the United Presbyterian Women’s Association.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mildred Hickman and an infant brother. She is survived by several cousins, many friends and her adopted family, Larry and Peggy Kenoyer.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Calvin Community Good Samaritan Fund or Camp Sunnyside.

The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff at Calvin Community. She chose Calvin, after years of being a volunteer there, and never regretted her decision.
