DICK GUIBERSON MET DEATH IN A FATAL SHOOTING AT EUREKA, NEVADA ON THE 15thRichard Guiberson, who was killed in Eureka the day before yesterday, was well-know on the Comstock and throughout the State. He was a sporting man of the better class. About forty years of age and a whole-souled, genial fellow whose untimely death will be regretted by more friends than many a man of more pretentions can number. He was unmarried.
A shooting scrape occurred in Graham & Co.’s saloon, Eureka, yesterday, between Dick Guiberson and George Hill, the former being shot through the right breast, the ball striking the spine, from the effects of which he died at half past 12 o’clock. Hill received one shot in the leg, probably not serious, though it is not known yet whether the bone is broken.
Hill fired all the shots in his six shooter. Guiberson fired but one shot, the remaining five chambers of his pistol not going off. The affair has caused great excitement there as it is the first shooting that has been done there in a long time, and it is predicted that other scrapes will come out of this. Hill has been in several pistol fights and has been looked upon as a bad man.
Guiberson is well-known throughout the Pacific Coast and had a great many friends. He was a powerful man, but cheerful and full of fun. He will be buried in Eureka to-day.
